I started working with Andrea, owner of Platinum Pilates, in December to improve my core to help with balance issues. (My doctor had recommended PT to help with this and after a few months of PT I wanted to "level up".) I've seen much improvement especially with flexibility in my spine. Recently, Andrea became certified in Rossiter. I can't do justice to a description of what Rossiter is (it works on the connective tissue); however, I can give this technique a tremendous "Wow". After the first time we worked on my right leg, it felt "normal" like it hadn't felt in years. Andrea has taken the time to learn my body and what it needs to function correctly. Thank you!!!
Today was my first Rossiter session. The results were amazing! Immediately the headache I had walked in with was gone. My sore shoulder no longer hurts. I am very happy and look forward to more sessions. Andrea is awesome to work with. I highly recommend Rossiter!
I LOVED LOVED LOVED my TRX lesson today. It's my new favorite thing. Andrea Ashcraft Cousins is a superb instructor. She explained the TRX moves step by step and helped me be confident that I could try something new. I will keep going!-----Original review was July 2015. Now it is January 2017 and my posture is amazing, my abs, glutes, and overall core is so much stronger! I don't slump when working on a computer (always an issue in the past), and I NEVER get low back pain from my weight training. Andrea is amazing!
I have been going consistently to Platinum Pilates consistently now for 2 years. The owner, Andrea Cousins is a fabulous instructor! I have really noticed that by doing a private Pilates session once a week, I have enhanced my gym/weight workouts and my bike riding as well. My posture is better too! I walk more confidently & taller now. Also, I notice that I don’t injure myself as often now because I’ve learned to move from my center and not from my knees or back. I highly recommend trying Andrea’s private sessions! It’s such an easy way to strength train, without the pain!
Why is Pilates so important to me and my health?
In 2010, I injured my lower back playing golf. Yes, you can be injured playing golf! Initially, I treated it as simple muscle spasm. After 3 weeks still no improvement. It turns out that one of my lumbar vertebrae was stuck. Fortunately, no herniated disc or slipped disc. After several visits to my chiropractor as well as adding extensive stretching and aqua exercises in my workout routine I was able to walk again without any pain.
Life became normal again but I wasn’t 100% mended. No matter how much stretching or workout I did my body always felt tight. My body was speaking to me but I wasn’t listening to my body. Eventually this tightness started causing throbbing pain in my upper back. I still couldn’t nail down the root cause of my issues.
It was suggested that I try Pilates. At first I was skeptical. Pilates? I’m a MAN who plays golf. But I was ready to try anything that will fix my back issue as well muscle tightness.
Within first 3 to 4 months working with Andrea, my back pain was gone and my back began to loosen up. Yes it took that long to learn the basics of the exercise. I began to connect my mind, my muscles and my whole body. After 9 months, I feel more flexible, stronger core and stronger back. BTW my golf game definitely improved.
Pilates enhances the everyday activities of your lives – whether it’s bending over to pick up your kids. Or biking hundreds of miles for a great cause. Or even a quick round of golf. I would highly recommend Pilates to anyone irrespective of age, shape, or gender. Just remember the 3-C’s when you do – Concentration, Control, and Centering. Who knows, maybe you too could look like me!
I've been coming in to see Andrea for close to a year and love the attention to detail she gives to each of her clients. I've done both Pilates and TRX with great results! Specifically she's helped me to strengthen my core and overall muscle building but more importantly helped with my plantar fasciitis. Highly recommend if you'd like to have that one on one attention
I started taking classes at Platinum Pilates a year ago. I had never tried Pilates before but was looking for a different kind of workout to help strengthen my muscles. I first tried mat classes and enjoyed them for core strengthening and lengthening but I wanted more of a cardio workout as well so I switched to TRX class and LOVED IT!
TRX Pilates with Andrea has really helped me to tone and strengthen my arms and legs while also working my core. Within months, I was moving from the modified/beginner exercises to the advanced exercises…proving that I was getting stronger. Andrea mentioned to me the other day that my form was “textbook”; I thought to myself, wow...what an improvement since the beginning where I struggled to learn the moves. The small class size allows for individual instruction and Andrea will modify exercises if you have issues or injuries. Andrea is always incorporating new moves to keep my muscles guessing - it feels good to be sore!
I will recommend to anyone who is looking for a way to strengthen your muscles, give Andrea and Platinum Pilates a try!
Andrea is simply amazing! I started TRX classes about 6 months ago, primarily to increase my fitness levels and build up my core stability , but also to try shape up for my wedding. I have had spinal de-compression surgeries in the past and have had degenerative disc disease for over 10 years in my lower back. Since I started TRX classes my back pain has reduced significantly and my body feels a million times stronger than it has ever been. Over the space of 6 months I am now able to master most of the advanced exercises (something which seemed impossible to me at the beginning). To top it off, I am looking much better and have lost inches! Andrea is extremely attentive and has always been very aware of my back issues. She places great focus on form and because the classes are small she can give individual attention to each client. If an exercise doesn’t work for you she can always modify it to suit your body’s strength and capability. I have also recently started pilates reformer classes with Andrea. I have done reformer classes at several studios in the past, but Andrea’s classes come out on top. Each time she finds unique ways to challenge me and I always feel great afterwards. Whether your goal is to shape up or to increase your body’s strength and flexibility, Platinum Pilates is where you need to be!
I’ve been doing Pilates at Platinum Pilates for over a year and I could not be happier! I take a combination of mat classes, duo reformer classes, and private instruction. I’ve seen dramatic improvement in my strength and muscle tone since I started here and I’ve had relief from some long standing health issues. The studio itself is cozy and conveniently located in West Chester Borough. I absolutely love Andrea (owner/main instructor)!! She is an excellent teacher and provides personalized attention and she is very precise with posture and alignment. She is great at making the classes interesting and fun! I’ve tried Pilates at other studios and none have even come close to being as good as this one! I’m so spoiled now after being here that I don’t want to work out anywhere else!
I started personal Pilates Training with Andrea in September 2013! Andrea has taught me hot to strengthen my core and whole being! In fact, I feel like a renewed woman when I walk out of her studio because her one on one sessions are tailored for me.
In January 2014 I started taking the TRX classes to take my fitness to a new level. Through these classes I have built up my stamina and strengthened my core even more!

I have never been consistent with working out until I started at Platinum Pilates! It has been over a year that I have been taking TRX classes and not quite a year that I have been taking 'mat pilates' classes. For the first time in my life, I look forward to working out!
